Lecture at Instituto Cervantes

04.20.11

Last night, Vladimir Radutny & Paul Tebben presented at Instituto Cervantes Chicago. We presented in tandem with presentations by the talented Designers Andrew Moddrell and Christopher Marcinkoski from PORT Architecture + Urbanism & Brian Strawn and Karla Sierralta from Strawn.Sierralta.  These three practices, presented under the lecture title, “Young Architects of Chicago,” were presented in tandem with the “Young Architects of Spain” exhibition, highlighting 3 young architecture/design practices in Chicago as a means to compare & contrast the fundamental differences in current U.S. & European models of practice.

The event brief reads as follows:

“In conjunction with the Young Architects of Spain exhibition, on display at the Instituto Cervantes (March 30 - April 25) one of the most innovative architecture firms in Spain will showcase its most recent projects. In addition, the Instituto Cervantes will host a panel discussion with three young architecture practices in Chicago, comparing and contrasting their work with their Spanish counterparts. Lecture series Director, Iker Gil, is the recipient of the 2010 Emerging Visions Award from the Chicago Architectural Club, Director of MAS Studio, and Editor-in-Chief of MAS Context

Three of the most ground-breaking and active architecture studios in Chicago, represented by designers in their early 30’s, will present their designs and discuss the challenges and opportunities they encounter. With the “Young Architects of Spain” exhibition as a reference, they will draw parallels and differences between their work and that of young architects in Spain.”
Our sincere thanks to multi-talented & inspiring Iker Gil of MAS STUDIO / MAS CONTEXT for organizing and moderating the event.
